What is a Torque Tester?

A torque tester is used as a quality control device to test or calibrate torque controlled tools. This includes electronic torque wrenches, click torque wrenches, dial torque wrenches, electric screwdrivers, air screwdrivers, pulse tools, cordless screwdrivers, nutrunners, and torque screwdrivers

To ensure safety and reliability of torque wrenches and torque instruments it is essential the technicians are educated on proper use. Using a quality torque tester correctly makes a safer world through accuracy and precision. Preventing scrapped work, product recall or injury.

Robert Robb, owner. ” Customers want it quick and easy to check for accuracy of their torque wrenches, but don’t know the correct way to use the torque tester. I saw the need for educating the technicians and I decided to offer to them and train the employees how to use it correcly. ”

A representative from our A2LA certified laboratory will perform the training from mounting the tester correctly to downloading the stored torque data to the PC. They will receive a certification of completion as an authorized person to test and calibrate torque instruments, including torque wrenches, manufactured by Snap-on/CDI.

Have you checked the accuracy of your weighing scale?

Important information for all owners and operators of weighing and measuring devices

Do you check the accuracy of your weighing scales on a regular basis?

The Washington State Department of Agriculture will preform unannounced inspections on all industrial scales used for commercial use. Scales are subject to stringent requirements and rigorous testing before being approved for a COC.

Be prepared and stay ahead of the game. Have your scales calibrated by a service company or agent that is registered with the State of Agriculture, this this will ensure accurate measurement and prevent device malfunction.  The service agent will provide you with a calibration certification that states it is in accordance to the specific requirements for WA State.

Your Basic Responsibilities

As an owner or operator of weighing or measuring equipment you are responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of your devices at all times. This includes but is not limited to assuring that:

  • The device is suitable for its intended use (by design, capacity, etc).
  • The device has an NTEP Certificate of Conformance.
  • The device is installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • All operating requirements are met such as indicating element visible, users are properly trained, and all transactions begin from a “zero” basis.
  • Suspected device errors or out-of-adjustment conditions are promptly checked and repaired by a registered service agent.
  • Security seals are properly installed on the device adjusting mechanism.
  • Devices are correctly registered with the Department of Revenue, Business Licensing Service.

High Demand for Thread Plug and Thread Ring Gage Calibration by an Accredited Labratory

RPTS meets the need for higher accuracy and more frequent calibration of thread plug and thread ring gages.

Thread plug and thread ring gages are used to check measurement of pitch and diameter of threaded items.  Many companies are seeing costly mistakes and product recall due to these gages giving an incorrect measurement. To prevent these mistakes companies are requiring frequent calibration at higher accuracy to ensure the product delivered to the customer is an efficient and accurate tool.

thread-plug-gauges

RPTS recommends thread plug, thread ring gages and any precision instruments be calibrated by an accredited calibration laboratory with long form certification traceable to N.I.S.T. (National Institute and Technology) to ensure all gages meet the required industry standard. It is critical that these gages are calibrated on a regular cycle. This cycle depends on the amount of use and if the thread plug and thread ring gages that have been dropped or impacted. RPTS suggests an annual calibration, setting a date every year to have your gages calibrated.

Robb Precision Tool Services is an A2LA Accredited Calibration Laboratory that follows ANSI/ISO/IEC17025:2000 and will provide a long form calibration certificate traceable to N.I.S.T. standards for all thread plug and thread ring. A long form certificate lists in detail all of the characteristics needed to ensure conformance. All thread plug and thread ring gages are calibrated by a trained technician in temperature controlled laboratory.

Robb Precision Tool Services Visits the Largest Private Labeled Torque Manufacture in the World: CDI Torque Products

As the demand for accuracy increases, at an outstanding rate, so does the technology in Torque Products.  To better help their customers meet this demand; Robb Precision visited one of the pioneers in the development of digital torque measurement systems, CDI, a Snap-on owned company.

The technicians received hands on training and education on the new line of Electronic Torque Wrenches and the cutting edge DTC Torque checker.

An exciting new torque tool is the portable DTC Torque Checker. This torque checker is designed to be affordable and enables torque wrench users to conveniently and simply check mechanical and digital torque wrenches for accuracy between calibration cycles, close to where they are used and stored. The DTC features 3 modes of operation, runs on three AA batteries and has a +/- accuracy. Other features include first peak, peak hold and tracking, ft/inch lb and NM and many other options.

The technicians also received training on the state-of-the art digital torque wrenches. These torque wrenches offer the most accurate and fastest way to tighten fasteners in a sequence, with audible beep and vibration that alert you when target torque is achieved.  Most of these torque wrenches have an easy-to-use plug and play software solution and highly programmable features.

Robert Robb, owner “Continued education is essential to meet the demands for increased accuracy and performance. I have had a relationship with CDI, a Snap on owned company for 20 years and became the first stocking distributor of CDI torque products in the United States in 2003. CDI is the largest manufacturer of Torque products in the world and I believe are the best in the industry.”

Is Your Weighing or Measuring Device Legal?

With increased use of weighing scales in WA state it is essential that the scale is accurately calibrated by a service agent for the Washington State Department of Agriculture.

The WSDA will conduct unannounced inspections. If the scale is inaccurate or fails to meet the criteria, it will be rejected and corrective measures must be made. You must contact a service agent that is registered with the state to have it repaired.

To ensure this does not happen having the scale calibrated every 6 months is critical. This will prevent costly mistakes and down time the scale is out of compliance and cannot be used.

Robb Precision Tool Services is a WSDA Service agent and will calibrate and certify your scale at the highest level of accuracy and provide you with a fast turn around.

To make this an effortless process for you we  provide pick up, delivery and rush service.

RPTS is an  A2LA acredited lab that has been serving the Northwest and beyond for over 20 years. We follow ANSI/ISO/IEC 17025-2000 standards with comprehensive training followed by ongoing intense testing to ensure that most recent methods are followed.
